Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and other non-linear devices can provide significant benefits to industry. They can also produce some unwanted side effects to the motor they are driving and to the system they are connected to. We can offer many solutions depending on the particular situation. In front of VFDs it is usually recommended to have some form of choke or line reactor. Some VFDs come with these devices built in. For many others, it is necessary to add them in front of the drive. Products offered to solve this problem can be as simple as adding 3% - 5% impedance line reactors. More complex solutions would involve using active filters or harmonic traps.
